Is This Solicitation Safe? Checklist
This is a summary of traits commonly seen in suspicious solicitations you may encounter regarding investments. Before signing a contract or making a transfer, please take a moment to check them calmly.
- You were solicited with absolute, risk-free language such as "guaranteed principal," "guaranteed profit," or "guaranteed to go up"
- Someone you met through social media, a matching app, or a dating service brought up an investment opportunity
- You were pressured to decide quickly by being told the offer was "only now" or "only for you"
- When you tried to withdraw funds, you were asked to send additional money for taxes, fees, or similar charges
- You were asked to transfer money to a bank account held in an individual's name rather than a company's name
- When you asked for the firm's registration number, you received only a vague answer, or could not confirm it on the FSA's list of registered firms
- All communication took place only through LINE or a chat app, and in-person or phone-based explanations were avoided
- When you raised doubts or concerns, you were pressured with a forceful tone or discouraged from reconsidering the contract
If Even One of These Applies to You
Please pause before proceeding with a contract or transfer. If you know the company or product name, we recommend checking whether it appears on Registered Firms — Administrative Actions or Unregistered Firms, or looking up any unfamiliar terms in our Fraud-Related Glossary. If you have already signed a contract or sent money, or are unsure how to proceed, please consult the public contact points listed in our Consultation & Reporting Contacts Guide.
This checklist is general reference information intended to help you check for commonly seen traits on your own. It does not determine or guarantee that any specific firm, product, or solicitation constitutes fraud or any other illegal act. For the legality of a specific case, please consult a professional or a public consultation contact point.
